about
Jordan Wanderer is a dancer, choreographer, educator, and administrator. She believes in the power of empathy and art’s ability to highlight human experiences through vulnerability and connection. A neuroscience enthusiast, her work is rooted in introspection and influenced by the sensory perceptions that constantly evolve to shape our embodied awareness.
Primarily trained in classical ballet then contemporary and modern forms, Wanderer holds Bachelors degrees in Dance and Cell and Molecular Biology from Mills College where she received the Outstanding Performer Award in 2017. Wanderer is currently a masters student in Motor Learning at Teachers College, Columbia University. Under the direction of Amber Lamprecht, she worked as an educational therapist offering multi-sensory, research-based literacy remediation at the former Literacy and Language Center of San Francisco and remains a tutor for K-12 students in math, science, literacy, and executive functioning coaching. Wanderer was the first Community Programs Coordinator at Alonzo King LINES ballet where she served as Lead Teaching Artist and mentor in addition to teaching open ballet classes at the LINES Dance Center and the Teens at LINES Program.
Wanderer has performed works by Mary Carbonara, Kara Davis, Molissa Fenley, Garrett + Moulton Productions, Alayo Dance Company, Molly Matutat, Dexandro Montalvo, and Merce Cunningham (staged by Holley Farmer). She joined Robert Moses' Kin as a dancer in 2020 and is currently the Managing Director. She has also been a member of Cat Call Choir and helped found pateldanceworks in 2017 as a choreographic collaborator, dancer, and composer. Her work has been shown as part of Mark Foehringer's Young Choreographer's Forum, Max10 at Motion Pacific, and through the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA Program and in collaboration with Mary Carbonara for RAWDance's Concept Series 29.

"There are situations of course that leave you utterly speechless. All you can do is hint at things. Words, too, can't do more than just evoke things. That's where dance comes in again."
